5 Creative Boosts You Need To Try Now

IMG_2888Well hello lovelies, so happy to have you visit today. So happy it’s the middle of the week, that means we’re closer to the weekend (throws hands up). Anyone else excited as I am?!? lol

We’ve all had those times where we seem to be and get in a creative rut. Today, I wanted to talk about some different ways of getting your creative juices flowing. It seems as if all the ways to get them flowing seems to be the same. Which is why I wanted to give you something different. As I read some of the articles, majority talked about going for walks (excercising). Not that I don’t want to do it, it’s just that I played outside so much as a kid. I think I’m allergic, lol. Excercising really doesn’t fit into my “priority list”, even though it should (sigh) don’t judge me. Others talked about flipping through magazines, and scrolling through Instagram. Though these are good ideas; you almost find yourself tired of flipping through magazines, and scrolling only mimicking what you find.

So, here we go. Let’s think outside the box:

  1. Watch movies and/or listen to your favorite songs

There’s a movies for every target audience out there to get ideas from. You could take a scene and it will spark an idea for a post.  For example, Mr Wright, which features Queen Latifah and Common. Queen Latifah is a physical therapist who falls for this guy(Common), but instead of not telling him how she feels let’s her god sister date him.In the end it works out, but still I know some of you ladies could write a long post concerning that, right?!? If you pay attention to words from movies and lyrics to songs, the possibilities are endless.

  2. Visit Art and History Museums

This is a good way to spend time with family, but also get the creative boost that you need. “History always has a way of repeating itself”. You’ve hear that phrase haven’t you? Well, it’s true. There’s so much creativity flowing through every square inch of those museums to get your brain into creative mode. From the sculptures, the clothing, the colors, and the architecture. Just be open to what’s happening around you. Regardless of everyone else, you need that individuality, and museums can help unlock that creative side you didn’t think you had. Bank of America, if you’re a customer, offers their customers free admission to certain museums every full first weekend of the month. Link here

  3. Ask your children and/or nieces & nephews

You really wasn’t expecting that one, were you? This younger generation is full of knowledge and creativity. They can be brutally honest with you even if you don’t want it, lol. It’s also a way to get them involved in what you’re doing, which in return creates bonding time. I’m not saying everything they say will make sense, but it could lead you to your next post. BE OPEN!! Put those create geniuses to use!

  4. Play dress up

This is where you unleash the kid inside of you. As adults we know longer know how to have fun, w’ere always so serious. It’s ok to let the little girl who once dreamed of being a princess out. Grab your favorite drink, whatever that may be, and head to the closet and have at it! Pretend you’re on the runway. You may seem silly at first, but once that drink starts flowing that inner diva comes out! YOU GO GIRL!! Take a night to just dress up and laugh at yourself. It helps.

  5. Twitter Chats

If you didn’t know, besides Instagram, Twitter is where it’s at. If you’re apart of a group, more than likely they are hosting these chats. A couple of my favorites are Brown Girl Bloggers and Black Bloggers United. Creatives are always dropping gems, and people are getting inspired. I know you might say “I don’t need another platform”, yes you do let this be the one! It’s worth the connections and information!

These are my 5. What are some ways you get you’re creative boosts? Drop a comment below.

Until next time

xoxo Petite Latoya 💜

Wait! I had no idea BOA offered free museum admissions. I will definitely be looking into that one! These are great tips. I love the music one. I’m a music head and I listen to everything. Twitter is another great one for any topic that you ever wanted to know about. Good stuff, girl.
